It Would Look Like ( I ♥ the Burbs!), 2006
For It Would Look Like... ( I ♥ the Burbs!), I wrote and anonymously distributed statements to Latin American immigrants living in Westchester County. The statements included: “If I had a photograph of a place here in the suburbs that reminds me of my home country it would look like” or “If I had a photograph of a place in the suburbs that makes me feel uncomfortable, it would look like....”
I used the participants’ written responses to these statements as a guide to select 16 images from my archive. People who partook in this project are from Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Peru.
